Sadako’s Cranes for Peace is a teaching pack that enables primary and secondary students to learn the inspiring story of a young Japanese girl who folded around 1600 origami cranes in the hope to be granted a wish, despite suffering from terminal leukaemia as a result of the radiation from the Hiroshima atomic bomb.
Students can then make their own origami peace cranes, or swans. The pack comprises various lesson possibilities, with relevance to English (literacy & spoken language), History, RE, Art & Design (origami), Maths (symmetry), SMSC and Prevent.
