Achin Vanaik is a founding member of India’s Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace (CNDP) as well as a strong supporter of CND. He is a previous winner of the Sean MacBride International Peace Prize.Achin has authored numerous books on topics including foreign policy, militarism and nuclear matters, and is a now a retired professor of international relations and global politics.

‘If the taboo against the actual use of nuclear weapons since 1945 remains intact, it is in no small measure because of the struggles of CND and like-minded organisations.’ Achin said to us. ‘CND continues to be an inspiration to all anti-nuclear and pro-peace movements everywhere, especially to those of us in India and South Asia, in showing what can be achieved and in its resoluteness to keep on struggling no matter what the odds, until we achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.’
