Immediate issue: 16 December 2002

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) will be back in the High Court at 10am tomorrow (Tuesday 17 December) to find out whether the legal challenge to the government over possible war on Iraq will be allowed to go for a judicial review. The three judges, Lord Justices Simon Brown, Maurice Kay and Richards heard the permission hearing over two days last week.

CND hopes that this case will be allowed to go ahead because our intention is to get the High Court’s opinion on whether going to war with Iraq under United Nations Security Council resolution 1441 is illegal. This would then enable the government to make an informed decision.
