Emergency Demonstration – Saturday 22 May 2004

Protesters will be on the streets of London this Saturday to express horror at the shocking abuses in Iraq and to call for a withdrawal of troops and an end to the occupation.

The march will assemble at Embankment at 11am and march past Downing Street to a rally in Trafalgar Square. Speakers at the rally include Kate Hudson, Chair of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Kate Hudson said,

“We are protesting about the shocking abuses in Iraq and call for the withdrawal of the illegal aggressor forces. CND deplores the criminal abuse of Iraqi detainees. We demands that the occupying forces comply with the Geneva Convention and insists that those guilty of these crimes are brought to justice. Peace and security will not be brought to Iraq whilst the occupation continues.”

The march has been organised by CND, Stop the War Coalition and the Muslim Association of Britain
