CND has been inundated with requests for posters during lockdown. It reflects the way people are seeking ways to raise their voices against nuclear weapons at a time when many campaigning activities are on pause.
We’re therefore delighted to launch today the CND poster competition with artist Peter Kennard. The aim is to produce a set of eye-catching posters that people across the UK can print off at home and display in their windows.
We extend an invitation to all CND supporters to submit designs that communicate the urgent need for nuclear disarmament. The designs should be suitable for printing on an A4 printer and striking whether printed in colour or black and white. Ideally they will include a simple slogan, such as scrap Trident or nuclear ban now.
In addition to the general competition for people of all ages, we have created a category for young people between the ages of 14 and 18, and a children’s category for ages 13 and under. Peter Kennard will select his favourites in each of the three categories. We will distribute the digital posters to over 40,000 CND supporters, and a wider selection of the entries will form a exhibition on the CND web site.
Please submit your entries by Sunday 24th May 2020 by email, indicating which category you are entering, along with your name, age and location.
We will announce the results of the competition during the following week.
